Vacancy: Electronic Calibration Engineer
Position Summary:
Carry out calibration and repair of a large range of test equipment, DC & LF and RF & microwave, within our UKAS accredited laboratory and on customer’s sites.
Manual calibration as well as the writing and setting up of automated calibration procedures; 
Writing calibration databases in Excel using the published specification of an instrument, including the calculation of the uncertainty of measurement;
All calibration is done on a guaranteed 5 working day turn round, so ability to work to set times and prioritise workload is important;  
Equipment calibrated will range from basic electronic test equipment to specialised EMC Test equipment; 
Carry out any other work as may be required to ensure the smooth running of the business; 
All work will be carried out to the standard required by our Quality Manual and our Health & Safety Policy. 

Requirements

  1. Understand in detail what calibration is and what it involves.
  2. Have a very good understanding of electronic principles including RF and this will be tested using written and practical problems during the interview; 
  3. Have at least two years experience working in a commercial UKAS accredited calibration laboratory - although, experience in a manufacturer’s own calibration laboratory may be acceptable if knowledge of a wide range of instruments can be demonstrated.  Previous experience of calibration is essential;
  4. To be able to correctly interpret a manufacturers specification for a wide range of equipment and use this information to create calibration templates in Excel;
  5. Be able to demonstrate an understanding of uncertainty of measurement and uncertainty budgets;
  6. Have an understanding of BS EN ISO 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing & calibration laboratories), in particular traceability of measurement and uncertainty of measurement;
  7. Be able to think for themselves and be able to calibrate similar types of equipment from generic information;
  8. Be good at fault finding and be able to read and interpret a circuit diagram;
  9. Be able to do complex calculations using Excel;
  10. Be able to work under pressure and prioritise workload;
  11. Live in or be willing to relocate to North Devon;
  12. Have a flexible approach to the type of work carried out;
  13. Be able to drive and preferably have a clean licence;
  14. Be able to carry out work at a customer’s site;
  15. Be in good health, a medical may be required;
